Lunar Nodes Shift

Leo & Aquarius 2026

The nodes of the Moon are points in the sky on the ecliptic in relation to the Moon’s position. Symbolically, and on a very basic level, they represent, the past and the familiar (South Node), and the future and the unknown (North Node). They are known as the “Nodes of Fate.” They are always on an axis point opposite each other. You have them in your birth chart, as you are born with them in a very specific location for your soul’s growth. Every year and a half the transiting Nodes change signs. On July 26th the North Node moved into Aquarius while the South Node moved into Leo. It plays a significant part in our personal lives and in the collective and the kind of growth that is available for us.

It is in within this 18 month period that fated lessons and direction are meant for us in the themes of Aquarius and Leo, but even more so, you’ll want to see which astrological Houses this axis is in your personal chart, this will show you the areas of life this plays out in. There are things we need to recognize, move from, grow out of and head towards.

In general the point is to recognize the usual and stretch out of your comfort zone, and go for the new, step into the unfamiliar and trust, and also to integrate more of this “new” Aquarian energy. The North Node is like a guide post to head towards. So what’s the old and what’s the new?

South Node in Leo

In this time period the Leo Archetype and themes will require new awareness. These themes can somehow relate to our past and to our identity and subconscious securities. Mostly we want to be aware of and spot “lower” expressions of Leo here. We may see that out in the world and in the news, but if any of these themes pop up that you do, happened in the past, or are involved with through someone close to you, it needs to be moved on from, left behind, understood for growth from. 

These themes involve needing and seeking attention or approval, needing to be a center of attention, big ego, having a self-centered standpoint, narcissism, me first, my way, “Evil King” energy, being demanding, dominating, high drama, arrogance, being a risky gambler on things. I’m up here, you’re down there mindset and behavior. Conducting others to do what you say or do your bidding.

Leo can be known for its heart but here this love is needy, love is pointed in one direction back to ones self, I need you to love me, grand gestures for a return, for recognition and for attention. Consumed by surface passion. Love that is self-absorbed, and all for and pointed towards ones self when only one partner is getting and expecting the attention and focus.

Positive “high” expressions of Leo are meant for you to take with you towards the Aquarius area. These are confidence, generosity, a loving heart, being a leader, leading with the heart, creativity, artistic expression, self-expression, grand expressions, theatric, being involved with children, giving a performance, your authenticity and pushing individual will. OR any of these positive expressions can be seeking new expressions from what had been dormant. For some a hidden talent can come up to the surface to the forefront in regards to these themes like creativity or performing, things that can put you in the spotlight for instance or opportunities come for you to shine in some way..

Leo’s love is romantic, playful, warm, radiant and expressive, creating and giving gifts generously out of pleasure.

If any of these Leo themes connect with you or that you're very familiar with, you could thrive in all of that like second nature and that is awesome. BUT… with Astrology, especially Evolutionary Astrology we want to be aware of the possibilities and opportunities for growth. For that we want to consciously be aware of Aquarius themes, move in that direction, share from Leo energy, and integrate more of Aquarius themes WITH our positive Leo themes. Any issues from Leo themes can be “solved” or learned through the integration and awareness of Aquarius and what those energies have to offer. You can raise the bar on Leo area themes fro which to share and use and be a part of in the community. Let’s take a look at this focus of direction to be aware of.

North Node in Aquarius

In this time period we want to make conscious decisions towards Aquarius energy themes and Archetype. Keep Aquarius in your mind, aim there, see it in the world, see it in you. From Leo to Aquarius is the movement from “Me” and my individual self-interest to the group whole and one’s part as that makes up the whole group. It’s when you play an important role as part of a group yet while also knowing that everyone else too plays an important role too. Every part of a car is necessary, and plays a vital unique role and they work together as one whole car, so the theme of equality is important here. Be aware of others' importance. Togetherness. Aquarius is “We the People” and humanitarian kinds of activity.

Use Leo heart energy towards Aquarian love which is brotherly love, platonic love, love at a distance or more of a kind of detached love and alternative styles of relationship love. Heart energy used on a broader scope, encompasses a group, a community or  that accepts everyone.

While Aquarius themes can involve groups, being all together, communities and friends, it is also the outsider, being on the outside looking in, separate, eccentric, odd, out of the box, weird and unconventional. It can also be rebellious of the conventional. This can be a time where you feel better about expressing more of the “real you” in larger friend groups, or community capacities.

Aquarius wants to move out from “normal” to the different or the new. It is experimenting, scientific, invention, new ideas, striving for the new and what’s never been done. It breaks boundaries.

Open up to thinking outside the box, YOU are your only boundary maker.

On the other hand there are elements of Aquarius that are very fixed in a way that will do anything to stay how it is and keep traditions at all costs, unable to move into the new or to experiment or try a little outside the conventional. The general group of the consensus can be this way.

How we use these Together

Lead by example within a community. Leading by example for kids coming up into the world of community. Big Brother or Big Sister kind of attention and role modeling.

Volunteering in your community.

Gain in the courage to be disliked. It’s ok to be weird. It's ok to be yourself. There is no one like YOU.

Take into consideration other people's ideas. Gain a wider, bigger perspective to include the bigger picture.

Put talents towards benefiting the needs of others or the whole, the group. Give people what they want. Creating for the use of all or for the benefit of all in some way. Your talents and skills and individual efforts serve a community need. Your energy serves the will of the entire group or community.

Leaving a legacy that benefits a community or everyone positively.

Release the command and use of will, of how you want things to be, and allow the bigger collective forces of things to carry you forth and create things that are meant for you.

Be someone who can inspire another beyond their comfort zone.

Inspire and act in love for the wider, grander, diverse, Universal, humankind.

Grasp onto a mentality that includes a community reach. Volunteer.

Expand what your identity encapsulates.

There are so many different kinds of people that make up a community, you are a part of that. Lend expertise to guiding and leading a community that you are a part of and listen to everyone’s ideas.

Recognize, support and champion others.

Today I went to a neighborhood “pot luck” (people bring food to share) gathering, a very Aquarian thing. The backyard that this was hosted by had an owner who likes to be handy, he had let us know that his tools were available for those in the neighborhood. He said needed some help organizing that and we all pitched in with ideas of how he could do this efficiently. This is a good example of humbling your individual self and talent and resources towards the use of the greater of the community. Giving forth ideas as a group would also be in the Aquarian realm.
