Ba paaah! Trumpets! 

The crimson velvet curtain opens…

A commanding presence steps forth,..

"To beeee! . . . Or not to b.. / CUUUUT!

Like Leo, eclipses love drama. This eclipse energy is akin to an interruption mid monologue. The director abruptly stopping you, and telling you to take notice of your motivation and to recognize where to pull emotion from to give your best performance. For a moment you humble yourself, you listen, you mine your inner self for expressive fuel. Aaaaaaand ACTION!

Eclipses can relate to powerful and sudden destined types of happenings.

Eclipses amplify things and Leo loves amplification, and to be center stage. We also have Jupiter here too that expands and amplifies things. Big expression, confidently expressing yourself fully without any holdback. Because this eclipse is also a New Moon, this is a new beginning point. A great time to start the creative process, anything related to art and expressing through it, expressing from past happenings. So as we approach this eclipse, there can be a release of something to be creating space for this self-expression or creativity. 

This eclipse has to do more specifically with our past, how we've been, people from it, or in relation to it. It also points to unconscious habitual ways we act, our personalities and what we do for security purposes in regards to needing attention or needing to be loved. Some aspect of our egoic past we've continued to use, or present ourselves as, or express from, needs to be released. In order to co-create with Spirit, and as a vessel, there needs to be that space, make room for it, a lessening of ego or of fixed ways in which we thought we needed to be for approval, love and security.  You'll want to see what House in your birth chart this is happening in as this can be the area of life, the theatrical "stage" these energies play out on.

The Pretenders: "Gonna make you notice...I'm special, so special...I gotta have some of your attention...give it to me"

Your personal Ego needs may be poking at you for attention and expression, and they can be old needs. This would be a good time to break through and be released from old self focused and self driven habits that don't serve you positively. While there is a starting point here as that New Moon, it's also a letting go point from the past, and then so to start new from that let go.

Your Social Self and Relationships

There is alot of social and relationship energies here.

You could be starting a new relationship, a romantic dreamy start. Be aware of Venus opp Neptune’s  “Knight on a White Horse” kind of illusions and fantasies our minds go to when meeting new people of attraction and putting someone on a pedestal or idealising them, it's more mental, in the head based. It's surface level energy. Being taken by a false reality perhaps. Intoxicating and seductive allure, a passionate flare up. You could have the urge to jump in too quickly, act from old ideologies and past behaviors you’ve been used to doing or being attracted to. You want to be liked, you like it when someone shows that they like you. Detach and think things over first. Be mindful and aware of unbalanced relationship dynamics and power dynamics, where there is a demanding and control, one sided, only one benefits. Is this person worthy of being in a relationship with YOU? You might want to widen the field and be more open to meeting different kinds of people, There's also opportunity to support connections that become helpfully transformative for you or them, or that raises the bar for you in some way in relation to someone.

The Cult Leader Archetype

The energy dynamic of this Leo eclipse can be like a cult leader kind of vibe. Attractive, charismatic, ego driven, self-centered, stand alone, lead main character, seems important, grand extravagant showman, preacher, persuasive, narcissistic, here's the belief they tell you, all eyes on them, their special in your eyes somehow. A herd gathering illusionist taking advantage of the vulnerable, those who cannot think for themselves or who are inwardly insecure. Holding power and control over others. Needing to hold this captivation. All ultimately for one's own ego and gain.

Think about what are you creating, sharing in life, teaching, giving out to others?

Are you putting on an act to be liked and loved, or are you expressing from your true self? There’s a certain kind of healthy detachment when you can be in your own energy and not be bothered by another's reaction or the thought of it. You’re just being or expressing yourself, others can take it or leave it. You don’t do things for approval or for that need or love or to be included.

“Speak Softly and Carry a Big Stick”

I like Mars in this placement here just getting into Cancer for this Leo eclipse, it's not an ego driven spot really, this wants Leo's outward energy to be adjusted to be more humble and considerate of others. There’s a certain kind of quiet strength here. Act with affection and emotional expression. Family support could be helpful here as well. But especially in relation to Leo and the relationship energies happening with this chart is that this Mars seeks to find security within itself, not from outside sources which is what a trait of the Leo archetype can be, needing that outer approval and attention. And when you think about this eclipse the Moon passing in front of the Sun it encapsulates this feeling too, dimming the light, blocking out the Sun, this outward will energy, and the Moon coming to be present within, “docking” in the lap of the Sun.. 

In the heat of the safari the lion gets relief and sustenance from the cool darkness of the night and of the Moon. Imagine yourself as a cuddly young lion cub cozying up to the belly of momma. Imagine taking your young version of yourself into your own loving arms of who you are today with affection, and giving that self warm loving attention, momentary rest, and pause. "Hakuna Matata," no worries. Motherly Love exists within you to access at any time. Some of us may not have had that experience but you can imagine the best of what that can mean for you and use it in your creative imagination.

Healing the Child with Real Compassionate Love

If you've had past issues or trauma in relation to relationships involving sexual abuse particularly as a child or within your family, from the distant past, or within your ancestry, this can be a tremendous catalyst to have the courage to confront those issues, pain and wounding and also for caring for and having compassion for your emotional inner victim identity and tending to the deeper needs that need adjusting for your growth and inner security moving forward as an adult and to feel through that instead of escaping from it, or overly identifying with it, it’s weight has been heavy for too long. Healing and dropping off, letting go of  old wounds, these old identities, what had defined you, or the lack of self-worth because of what had happened. Or on the other end you're the one who has done something involved with this energy in the past and this energy of the eclipse can help with humbling yourself as in speaking as a confession or having the courage to make amends, and clearing the way, emptying out, letting go of, handing over to, and resolving guilt, talking with a priest or a professional, someone trusting and healing or faith involved.

Campfire Storyteller Shaman or Elder Energy

This is a good gather around the warmth of the campfire storytelling theatrical energy held at night with fantasy and darker archetypal themes as teaching lessons. Shamans or Elders would be the kinds of teachers here. Capturing the attention of a group with tales of courage and giving inspiration, installing confidence through lively, expressive, captivating, dramatic storytelling. It's at the point in the story when one stands in front of the fire in front of you drawing your direct attention and fear and the story teller appears completely dark with a backlit glow.

Blacklight Art

A black light illuminates a distinct glow. A black light art work. Have you seen those velvet posters, especially from the 70's that only when you turn off the lights and use a special "black light" a special fluorescent bulb, the artwork pops out with a peculiar amazing attractive glow that you would not be able to see without it. This art poster has a kind of hidden motive for your attention and appreciation. This kind of energy is like this eclipse. An entertainment of enhancement from the dim and the dark.

Recognizing Lower Expressions of the Leo Archetype

Because this eclipse is happening in Leo and as a New Moon with the South Node it is very important to understand the difference between positive Leo energy and negative Leo energy and to be able to recognize it in life within yourself and what you see in others and out in the world. To dim down the lower frequencies of this archetype like egotistical, pride, needing things to be your way, the need to be admired, needing attention for example. We need to take a moment to pause, introvert, intro-inspect, check our inner selves and motives first. That is not really a Leo or a Fire trait but we have the Moon eclipsing the Sun here for a moment. 

It's the moment of the performer behind the curtain that centers themselves, clears out and calmly takes a deep breath just before the curtain raises for the show. With the nodes changing into Leo and Aquarius in which the energy points towards Aquarius it's important to bring the positive Leo energy into the community and share it, Aquarius style energies. Cry Baby Cry

We get upset when we don't get what we want or things don't go our way. You know what happens when you enforce a timeout to a child or when you pull them inside from recess. They may pout and cry and be all emotionally dramatic and throw a fit and a tantrum that they can't do what they want to do. Well…it’s what they REALLY feel! They are expressing that. Tears shed are good and healthy letting go elements of energies, we get it all out.

After the Ego check energy of the eclipse, the emotional Moon moves on. There's plenty of support to share generously, create, teach, inspire and express that can come from your most natural self without the need to impress or expect anything in return. This is when the child's enforced time-out is over or when the bell rings for recess. Big smiles emerge.

Fire & Air

There is very good creative potential, use of ideas and imagination and taking action on them, stoking the fire, collaborating, inspiring, sparking ideas and expressing yourself with this starting energy..

Courage, heart based, authenticity, confidence, leadership, creativity, self-expressing, generosity, childlike playful energy are all positive expressions of Leo.

Our mental inner Ego self can be a limiting, confining and fixed element of our lives in many ways. We can even take notice of our motivations that come from our Ego. Check yourself, observe, use self-love. We can take this time to consciously recognize what blocks any of these positive Leo traits in our lives and be willing to remove them or be more confident in expressing them.

This is a time also to be aware of your inner strength when feeling pulled, "glamoured" or persuaded by something, someone, or outside forces and of what you allow because of the attention you're receiving or giving. You have the will power to draw your attention away from such things or people and such and be more aware of where you are putting your attention as well as what you are attracting or what you are being attracted to..

There are new ways to shine and share and express from or create from. And those ways of shining and sharing have always been there, they just need to be recognized, loved and polished off.

Engage with being love in action while being an example.

Lift others up with presence, engagement and the loving expression and words.

Recognizing your loving essence starts with loving every part of your own self and this takes some introspection and inner care and in doing so you're capable of loving others for exactly who they are and their own authenticities.
