Capricorn New Moon 2026

Authority and supportive change.

Welcome to the New Year of 2026 and boy are we already into hefty stuff!

I give blessings to you for the year ahead, keep opening your capacity to know yourself better from the inside out and the outside in.

Here is an outline of some of the main players of this Capricorn New Moon that I’ll be talking about with consideration to the entire chart. I’m going to add more Astrology lingo to this one to to start.

- With this New Moon comes a stellium which means there are a bunch of planets huddled together in the same area making them more powerful. Sun and Moon at 28 degrees, Mercury and Mars are also exact at 26 degrees in Capricorn, also with Venus next to Pluto in Aquarius.

- The beginning of Aquarius season the following day.

- Moon, Merc, Venus, Mars and Sun cross over Pluto in Aquarius all within a week right after this lunation.

- Neptune moves into Aries leaving Pisces behind for good in our lifetime.

- This lunation trines Uranus and sextiles Neptune/Saturn.

It’s important to take the information and relate to it on a personal level while also understanding that what we don’t integrate or still have within us deep unconsciously shows up in our outer world as events, people, and situations. 

Capricorn 

We all generally see this in our outer world represented as the government, authorities, authority figures, the police, Father, parent, CEO’s, bosses, teachers, elders. We interact with it as structure, wise experienced wisdom, steps to take, rules, reality, things we are responsible for, our career, our duty to society, our reputation. It can also be experienced as fear, safety, protection, suppression, punishment, restriction and restraint. 

Inwards we all access Capricorn when we teach from age old experience, when we handle things maturely, provide for our family, engage with responsibility, do our work and career, take systematic steps, create something tangible real, become an authority on something, show restraint, create boundaries, create or follow rules or obey for example. These are the themes that get amplified and engaged with, with this New Moon, to take forward with us into Aquarius season. What is started in Capricorn has to be responsibly dealt with in Aquarius. 

Aquarius

Aquarius rebels and protests against all these themes mentioned, OR it can be very traditional refusing to budge against change which can also create a tension. Aquarius has to do with freedom, sudden change, the strange and odd and new. It’s connected with community, Democracy and “We the People” as well as being highly individual, and that of like an outsider, different,  “Black Sheep,” do things your own way, “you can’t tell me what to do,” outside of societal norms kind of vibe, or the unique individual that has a role within the whole of a larger group.

Capricorn Stellium

The tight close binding of the “personal” planets together in Capricorn give it an Aries style function of doing, action, starting, creative, impulsiveness, self oriented, acting without regard of others, anger, striking out from, aggressive kind of energy. All of this within Capricorn themes, all of which can create new experiences to move forward with, or positive or negative consequences, “karma” as some may say.

From one Zodiac sign to another

The new moons lately have been happening at the end of the signs, so they've been more of a preparation of what to take with you like supplies in your backpack and what you need moving forward into the next realm of the Zodiac sign energy. Here we're preparing for the change of what's to come, and with observation at a distance we can evaluate our steps forward. Sometimes that distance can be a memory from a distant past that you can learn from to help in that forward march movement and to gain practical wisdom from.

This can better manifest itself as well as community protection. Coming together to protect each other as a whole. Looking out for each other through things.

This is also the energy of "this is what I want to achieve (or change) and these are the steps I need to start to take deliberately and take responsibility for." Slow, cautious  plotted out steps. It requires stability of "footing" so to speak, as well as character. We can be over achieving as well with this energy, or see a kind of ambitious overreaching outstretch in others or in the news pertaining to Capricorn themes mentioned above. Over use of authority.

We could be facing some realities that encourage us towards radical, yet supportive, change that raises the bar for us or our personal standards and values and then we maintain those values and standards within the community.

Sometimes in order to handle things, we have to maintain a calmer mature attitude and appearance, remain somewhat detached to assess a situation, and decide to respond with a wise, calculated action. Are we acting from a personal place that is also taking everyone else into consideration? Or are we acting from a selfish standpoint, or from a place with regards to a reputation you feel you have to adhere to, how you think you should act due to societal, or family pressures, expectations or for the approval of them?

Changing how we teach

Capricorn is also the elder, the wise teacher and Father archetype. I recently listened to a spot on news radio talking about teachers having to change how they teach in order to incorporate the use of AI and this encompasses this new technology and the change that has to move with it and that there is old traditions in paradigms being broken through with this new technology that is not going away but needs to be taught to students and kids in an ethical useful and correct way. "Parental guidance" comes into use here on many levels. And to move forward with this technology and yet this is all new to teachers and parents. Fact checking becomes a must, as AI doesn't always spit out the correct answers, or information, like a calculator does on command. AI is revolutionizing how we work and learn and teach and do our jobs. We'll have to cue in on its beneficial aspects somehow.

This Moon cycle is more mentally stimulating yet from a grounded traditional tighter restrictive standpoint to start and to either carry with you and use or take with you and change or break through them entirely.

Use this time to access your “Inner Parent,” use your wiser, mature aspect of yourself.

You may or may not have had a positive mature influence in your life as someone who was your parent, but there may be people in the media, or in movies, or people that you see or know that exemplify a good example or ideal of this kind of person. And so even if there's trouble or controversy with parental figures, or people of authority that may be on the negative side of this, it brings up our opposite that makes us notice what is not right, or out of balance, or proper, or good for us, and we can know better for ourselves from the negative, as well as from the positive, and when we are paying attention to the positive when we see these things as something that we want to become, or we feel that we aren't already perhaps, and want to strive for. They're kind of like rungs on a ladder, or a helping hand, that is there to grasp onto moving up. Even in pain, or with emotions, we can tend to these parts of ourselves like a compassionate parent to a child with love and patience and most of all, caring attention.

Structures, New Collective Actions

What kind of "structures" do you want to move forward and accomplish something with. Think of like a kind of car that you get into to move with to take you somewhere. Think of a boat kind of boat that you get into to move with. Think of any sort of thing that you can get into to move with. What is this kind of “structure” and how can it best be useful for you? What is protective for you? What comes from experienced wisdom, maturity and intelligence?

Also then, what kind of structures need to be changed, dismantled, removed, gotten rid of, added to, rebelled against or gone beyond? This can be long standing ways that we ourselves are and forever have been and do things OR what we see out in the world happening. Things that have been in place for a long time.

Long standing “outside” “structures” or institutions come to an end and die that have been around for decades such as MTV for example, the president and government of Venezuela, the US penny, the Corporation of Public Broadcasting and other governmental offices. Iconic people of huge standing and fame pass away especially in music and film.

Things that end having to do with the consciousness of larger numbers of people like countries, continents and humanity as a whole create new space for new ways that affect many people. Sometimes big ending things require global compassion, collective peaceful protest and action. I’ll talk more about this with a Neptune in Aries post as this astronomically happens on Jan 26th within this Moon cycle.

This is a time to recognize the support towards higher potentials and taking corrective actions for yourself that are in upgrading alignment as such. Creating and expressing yourself from that embodiment, from this new structure and upgrading that with consistent and persistent effort.

Transformative Awareness

It is easy to experience these things outside of us and they are felt real as they are, but there are also the deep inner endings, changes, upgrades and transformations that present themselves, or have an effect on us on the inside, whether we know it or not. Things pop into our awareness no matter how harsh, horrific or wonderful that beg for your awareness sometimes and those things are usually coming out from and are experienced in your relationships, what you experience on a day to day personal or collective basis and out in society and the media. Evolution personally and collectively requires change in many forms. The experiences that spark change have their inner connections somehow as well. 

Current Events Hit Home 

I live in Minneapolis in the United States. Lately things have been very tense with a surge of federal agents and a murder of Renee Good, a US citizen shot 3 times by a US Federal agent not too far from where I live. I’m shocked, horrified and really sad for her family, this community, citizens and this country. Schools and businesses have closed and protests are big and loud. People of ALL races, colors and accents are being stopped, questioned, and many are being detained. Some U.S. citizens are being detained as many Federal officers overstep their authority all while being on video and documented. I have friends who have been stopped, I know people who were at the scene of the murder. It’s scary and unsettling. See for yourself. People are very angry, including myself, that this is happening in America. It’s been world news. 

US Immigration, or ICE as it's called, is supposed to be targeting and detaining illegal immigrants, more specifically illegal immigrant convicted criminals. Currently there are more people being detained that don't fit that than do. The show of force here is very present and this isn’t the only city experiencing this.

This can certainly be a rise of tension that could very well lead to more drastic rebellion and change in this country, or on the other end of even more domination, restraint and suppression within America by its own government. 

As these planets march through Capricorn and through the Pluto passage in Aquarius in what may seem to be a fiery time period, recognize what can be burned and blown away with old aspects of how you are that you can shed and rise out of anew from and be useful in society with. Sometimes the changes we make within, and with our actions, take continued, persistent, conscious effort while maintaining and embodying a new ideal.
